Wow! We visited Decorators Warehouse
Yesterday we went to check out Decorators Warehouse... There are signs all around town that say "Texas' #1 Christmas Store". Wow.... for real. This place is awesome!!! Huge Huge Huge selection of Christmas decorations, ornaments, trees, statues and all things holiday.
Some highlights were the entire room of ribbon, Santa Claus thrones, 15ft tall Christmas Bear statues, life size camel statues... tunnels of holly and lights... too much holiday awesomeness to list.

Here are a few photos but they don't do justice to the immense size of this place... it's a must visit destination for any self respecting holiday lover. These photos only show like 1/10 of this huge place.

Salt Cookie Dough Ornaments for the Holiday Season
Last year we did dough ornaments for our holiday tree. It was super easy and fun. We did some adult themed ornaments as well as the traditional Christmas stuff. I will dig up some photos later but for now I'll just tell you how to make them and show you a random photo from the internet... Update: Here's a link to a photo of our ornaments
Preheat your oven to 250 degrees F
4 Cups All Purpose Flour
1 Cup Salt
1 1/2 Cups Warm Water
In a large mixing bowl the mix flour and salt. Slowly add the water and stir it in with a spoon. Once all the water is in use your hands to knead the dough until it's nice and soft.
Roll out the dough to about 1/8 inch thick... Now use cookie cutters for traditional holiday shapes or do like we did and use a butter knife to cut custom shapes. Use a toothpick to poke a hole so that you can add a string or wire for hanging on the tree.
Bake at 250F until they are rock hard... about 1 hour 20 minutes. (For puffier shapes bake at 325F for about an hour... If you do the puffy ones use a chopstick instead of the toothpick so that the hanger holes don't puff closed.)
Now let them cool off and then paint / glitter / mod-podge / whatever. We used acrylic paint with glitter and they turned out awesome. Update: I forgot to mention that once everything was painted and glittered I used a light coat of acrylic sealer.

Already doing the holiday shopping...
Usually I do all my shopping during the last half of December but this year in September I started setting aside some cash each week for xmas shopping... I've already amassed a pretty nice stack of gifts... what am I going to do on xmas eve eve this year??
I'm not waiting until after Thanksgiving!
Every year as fall approaches I start to get excited about the holiday season. Here in Texas we usually get a couple of cool weather days by the end of September and that's when my holiday season starts.
I usually keep quiet about my excitement and patiently wait until after Halloween to start doing holiday type stuff. Not this year... I'm declaring the yuletide season officially ON. With the modern age of advertising and an entire internet I know that I'm not the only one.
So.. welcome to my holiday blog... let's enjoy the season together.
Here's one of the weirdest Season's Greetings memes I could find... The elusive "season's greetings yeti" image. Thanks internet!
